Gender Neutral Nursery Inspiration

Unlike many other couples these days, my husband and I decided not to find out the gender of our baby. In the beginning I thought it was going to be really hard but its actually been much easier than I thought. The one reason that I did want to find out was because I wanted to make sure the nursery was decorated appropriately. But because of my love for the colour grey I figured that I could easily make a nursery that would be perfect for a baby boy or girl. And by doing a grey nursery I would be able to keep the room fairly consistent with the rest of my house.

Below I pulled together my colour inspiration for the nursery. For the wall colour I decided to go with Olympus White by Sherwin Williams, it is a gorgeous pale grey that will allow for the room to be nice and bright, and is neutral enough to allow for accent colours. I also put together a style inspiration board for the room, I have yet to purchase anything (except the crib), so I am hoping to stay on track with this style (Shopping in Nova Scotia can be limiting sometimes, I can't wait for the Ikea to open up in 2017!).

Crib: I love this super modern crib! It is the only thing I bought so far, so I am kind of planning the room around it.

Cart: I saw an Ikea hack on Pinterest where someone took this kitchen cart and used it for keeping diapers and creams, which is perfect for me since I don't want to get a changing table and just use the top of the dresser as the changing table. I'm either going to buy this online or find one similar at Winners/HomeSense.

Drum Shade: I think that having a drum shade like this will be a great light fixture for the room. And getting it in a black colour will help to break up how much light and white there will be in the room. I'm hoping to find one at a local hardware/lighting store.

Sheepskin Rug: I knew that I wanted to have a sheepskin rug because I had one growing up. I found this one at Ikea while I was in Florida over the holidays. It is a bit on the smaller side, but it will be perfect to lay the baby on after the bath.

Rocker: I'm actually getting a hand me down rocker from my sister-in-law and all I know is that it is an off-white/cream colour. I love this rocker from Pottery Barn, but it is a little out of my price range.

Typography Art: I'm planning on making my own artwork for the room, but I love the simplicity of this print from Olive et Oriel. It is modern and perfect for a gender neutral room. I'm definitely going to use this as inspiration and come up with my own quotes and sayings.
